This needn't be an easy bag. I visited it as part of an 8 mile walk from Parbold train station to Gathurst station. Although some of the footpaths I used were not really fit for purpose :( I dedicate this trig to my niece who celebrated her 6th Birthday today. Many Happy Returns Marnie xx

A miserable rainy day so just picked off one piece of low hanging fruit. Parked up more or less right next to it. Some views to the south that appeared to be the Mersey estuary, but low cloud and rain made visibility poor. Did wonder if it had been moved at some point, maybe when the car park was created as the base was exposed and it looked a bit like it had just been plonked down there. |reading through the notes, no one else seems to had that idea so I guess maybe not. Beer in The Junction at Rainford afterwards.

Killing time before an appointment at Wrightington Hospital, so cruised over to the very fine Beacon Country Park for this pillar. Take note non gadget users on this sight, this pillar can be found in Carr Lane c/p....not the Visitor Centre c/p nor the "Doggers" c/p. On entering it is on your right hand side and you have to laugh on how easy it is to find. Gifted the two today to Kendals "gold mines", who said fish and chip shops are closing?

Returning from a day working in Liverpool. A trig you can find with only your road atlas! If approaching from the S it is the second car park and the trig is visible to your right soon after driving in. Good condition for a busy location, with original plug, FB facing S. No access problems at all. One side is wooded but the views on the other side were unexpectedly fine, West Pennine Moors, South Pennines, Cheshire, the Mersey and the Welsh mountains all visible today. Busy with people enjoying the park on a decent summers day.

Passed this location with my walking group - The Irregulars, LDWA - so this was an opportunity to visit that was just too good not to miss. Pillar is situated on edge of car park and is both highly visible and easily accessible. Remarkably in excellent condition considering its location. An area of extensive views from this elevated position.

Had a few minutes to kill before a meeting nearby, so drove past to bag this one. Fine condition and shining white in the bright sunshine, spider still intact surprisingly for its position. Alma field presumably named after the Crimean battle is a great spot for kite flying, some views but not grand.

Recently re-painted white. Very good condition, especially as it is on the edge of a public car park. Excellent views in one direction (180deg), but belt of trees blocks view in other direction.

vgc, white, metal cap shallow letters. FB with S above numbers. N edge of Carr Lane car park, unmissible even in the dark. Not obvious on the map - didn't realise there was a trig there when visited Ashurst Beacon in 2002.
