1st of the 8 I have left on Islay. Parked at NR3414846464, just North of the new houses in a lay-by. Back down the road and through a gate taking the large track which headed towards the old quarry, skirted round the dip and boggy bit and headed up to the fence line which I crossed at NR 34492 46461, then headed up through the trees to the trig, where I met several deer. Back via a firebreak to fence and then to car via same route as ascent.

Approached from northwest. Unfortunately urban sprawl in the form of new housing has recently appeared along the east side of the unclassified road in the westerly edge of the mapped woods. This meant that the access point to the woods is across the field to the north of the new houses. The start of the route is boggy but after the dip, the higher ground in the field is easier. Once into the woods, the route up to the trig is through the trees is straight forward. Pillar trunk good but the top has been left badly damaged following the unauthorised removal of the whole spider. Flush bracket faces southeast, compass measurement 139°. Vented through back sight hole. Surrounding trees mask any views.

Struggled up through the trees, think the path is long gone though a little tread to the trig on the hill.

Good path through dense conifer forest from NR 34394 46189 where there's parking for 1 car. Top of hill is treeless so surprisingly good 360deg views to be had. Top of pillar missing, just securing rings and spider studs remain. Rear sight hole only open. Grass encroaching up to FB, cut that away.

Up overgrown track beside wood (NR 344462). Trees a problem but more mature and lower branches not too dense. Keep in same direction as fence, up line of trees in direction of trig and planting - you will get there!

NorthWest sight open but complete top missing.. hacked my way up from the AnCurran Lodge but made light work of coming down using the 'co-op' poly-bag trail.. very neatly trimmed trees for ease of access along shady avenues.

An Curran ..follow the poly bags.

I've waited ages to get to this trigpoint. The landowner took me up and said they removed the top many years ago - a shame. It's difficult to access now because of dense Sitka Spruce, but still a great view from the top.
