Found OK using OS sketch measurements A and distance to kerb (not assigned a letter). Farmer rocked up, had a chat, said field entrance has been widened, so measurement B no longer valid. Large bolt in conc block, several inches down in rough grass verge. Found a flat rock marking the spot, re-covered the block and replaced the rock.

Tried this one a few days ago but the ground was frozen so gave up. Better conditions today. After a lot of stabbing with the screwdriver, eventually hit the concrete pad. Bolt is about 6" down, 7'3" out from a light coloured stone in the dry stane dyke. With CJ.

2" bolt in block, in deep dead grass but hole obvious, paced out and found immediately, 4.7 m from gatepost, 4.3 m from road edge as per sketch.

Block partly exposed, but not bolt which needed a little digging out. Alexander obliged.

Hooray! The first successful logging. Buried under thick grass it took a good bit of poking around with a walking stick to find it. A local pulled up and asked if I was looking for buried treasure - when told I was looking for the OS marker he told me it was still there somewhere. Five minutes later I prodded the right bit of ground :-) I left it clear for anyone wanting to find this elusive block. Its about 6 feet out from the wall Note for future use if you need to do some measuring from the sketch - marker C seems to no longer exist - if EP is electricity pole the wires been moved into the field during equipment upgrades

Grass has been cut back but, I believe, not far enough to make it easy to find. Another winter one.

Should not be too difficult.. I had a go, but found out when I got there that I had lost my trowel. A quick descent into Gala to buy another one failed miserably.... Too small for a Jobbies Garden World, and the hardware shops were waiting for spring. The guy in the army surplus shop did not even know what a trowel was.... Anyway, its still up there.. I'll be Back!
