Easy access from the track to the south west. I took the opportunity to scout for the best route up to Hart Fell which was covered by low cloud.

Towards end of a long hot day on the Watershed having set off from Birkhill and following the twists and turns of the Watershed. As I approached the Trig there were a pair of lambs, their mother and a bird all hopping around the pillar.

Minus 3 at the car made it perishing on top with a stiff breeze. Didn't hang around. Lovely views. I had visited it years ago on a Devils Beeftub to Grey Mare's Tail traverse.

This was my final short walk of a 12 hour drive from Devon to Perthshire (M6 nightmare with torrential rain and roadwork hold-ups) so I thoroughly enjoyed everything about Annandale Hill: the fresh air, the views, the little black slugs, the life-reviving exercise, and of course the pillar with its brown plastic cap and two sight-holes open.

A great pillar to visit commanding fine views over the Devils Beef Tub corrie and on into Annandale. Also in view is the great Corbett summit of Hart Fell. I am not sure but I believe these fine views may soon be marred by the building of a wind farm...? The two remote masts are already up.
