Steep path up from NW. Block clear of snow. Bolt/Rivet (or could it be a brass rod?) with the faint outline of a cut benchmark. Good views towards Shrewsbury and beyond. Returned to town centre via the disused canal.

Follow the orange waymarked Bardon Geo Trail from Pine Trees cafe and car park. The Block is exposed on the surface on a small promentary to the north of the slabs of rocks to form an interesting bench. This is a standard surface block with a rivet rather than a bolt. I suspect these rivets were the economy version used in in some blocks.

Haughmond Castle rivet standing proud, a trip hazard!

Obvious block with "bench mark" arrows. Bolt has lost its head and is bent. Nice viewpoint. Later clarification: apparently Brass Rod rather than bolt - as ted says.

Bolt remains looks like had standard hemisherical domed head
