The trig site is in a gap in the hedgerow between two recently ploughed fields to the east of Chippenham. There was no sign of a block on the ground. The field to the east was reached by the public footpath from Stanley Lane to the north. The perimeter of the field was skirted to reach the trig site. Flat farmland can be seen to the north; Bremhill to the east; Chippenham to the west; the woods of the Bowood Estate and Bowden Hill are to the south; Cherhill monument on the distant Marlborough Downs can be seen to the southeast.
