Took a bit of finding, but using the previous measurements, eventually struck the concrete pad. Deeper than I thought. With CJ, who refuses to give up when bolt hunting.

Easy find with peregrinus' measurements despite being a little out; approx 10cm deep with a solid turf covering. 2" bolt in concrete block; measured at 40cm from road edge, 5.0m from the old wooden post and 5.4m from the new metal gatepost.

2" bolt in block 4" down, 4.5m along road edge from older timber post then 0.5m back from road edge. Had been excavated fairly recently, just had to lift turf.

2 inch bolt 10cm deep. 30 cm from road edge. Even with the sketch this took some finding, the gateway has been remodelelled, but easy enough to sort out the measurements. In the end i dug a hole at the measurement location and there was the bolt.

To be honest, I did not put much effort into finding it. Just happened to be passing. I was walking from Kelso to Hawick seeking out all the geodetical flush brackets along the way. Could not see it where GPS said this should have been.
