A rare 9 for me, this hill has haunted me for years usually in the cloud when we've visited before. From the stacks of Midlands power stations, to the Great Orme, all the mountains from Black, Pembroke and Brecons to Snowdon and Clywydians - (Snowdon not in cloud until later). Scramble after the quarry track and then a glorious time wandering in this huge interior back via the bwlch.

Cloud and rain. If there is a path up from the quarry car park I didn't find it. It took me 3 hours to do the round trip and the record for the Arenig Fawr fell race is 1 hour 25 mins which also includes Moel Llyfnant. So considerable improvement required. Looking back at some old notes I found that I first came up here on 10th Dec 1975. Would you believe more than 40 years ago. I wonder how long that took.

Sadly The Snowdon Horseshoe and Carneddau tops were always in cloud, but we did see the tops of pretty much everything else at some point or another. Me, Jon 854m

PS During the following week on the 'Today' programme was a debate about people turning summits and the like into memorials and trying to curtail such, the sort of thing that grown particularly since Dianas death I also rather think it is getting out of hand but should we deny the bereaved any such comfort ? should we take this memorial away ? or why not stop the annual rememberance service on Great Gable also ?
