A great walk up Arnside Knott, although the trig is surrounded by trees the nearby toposcope gives amazing views as does the descent down Redhills. Arnside is a lovely place and the area we'll worth an explore.

Parker near the rail bridge and followed the coastal path round to a caravan site before pealing off following the waymarked footpath to arnside knott. Decent views all round even with it being over cast like today was. My 160th trig!

Takes a little finding. Find the Lawson Bench and then head off to the right. The trig is surrounded by trees but there are spectacular views across to the Lakes and south over Leighton Moss and Silverdale, but mind the drop.....

An exceptional sunny, crisp and clear day for a visit to the seaside.....so thought a lot of other people too. Walked along the coast from Arnside to Far Arnside before returning via Arnside Knott and the wonderful NT woodlands. Lots of "windows in the trees" to admire the Kent estuary and Lakeland mountains. Gifting to my beloved "taxi fare" who departed in October. Met several Parson JRTs today, not a patch on my little lad.

Too hazy for a Lakeland view but looking out over the Kent Estuary never disappoints. Golden sunshine, wispy mist and mirror image reflections of the viaduct added up to a memorable outing

Revisit, I arrived Arnside 10.33 via the 08.56 Skipton to Morecambe(change at Carnforth)10.23 Carnforth to Barrow-in-Furnace trains. Showers on & off for about an hour then blue skies rest of the walk. I called in for a pint of Kingstone Press at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks before my 13.30 train to Carnforth. Where I had a pint of Stowford Press in the Royal Station Hotel before my 14.56 train back to Skipton.

A different route to normal and a very enjoyable one. Parked near the railway station and took a good SW footpath to come out on Silverdale Rd. Then took a path off High Knott Rd over Redhills with superb views of the estuary viaduct. After visiting the trig we took a path through Copridding Wood to reach New Barns and a coastline return to Arnside.. Finished off with fish and chips and a fantastic golden sunset lighting up the River Kent channel.

Day 1 of 13: A Bay to Bay Walk. Dropped off in Arnside, we bagged this pillar on the walk over the Knott towards our camp at Gibraltar Farm. The views from most points on Arnside Knott are worth a ten, but this well maintained trig has views obscured by trees. A good start then, the walk starts proper tomorrow.

Parked on the Arnside to Silverdale Rd, near the junction with Arndale Cottage ( which leads to the ruins of Arnside Tower ). Chose the footpath to the east of the trigpoint, which is a short steep climb through the trees. From the trigpoint itself the views are obscured by the trees.Nearby some excellent panoramic views with a Toposcope naming all the fells in view.

Thought it was about time to officially bag this favourite top. Arnside Knott is always a pleasure even in bad weather, as it was today. The trees are dotted around with lots of flowery scrub land between the limestone shale. The pillar is tucked away sheltered from wind etc, but there are plenty of viewpoints on the way up of Morecambe Bay or the Lakeland Hills. Today I was having a recce to check how practical it was to get my mate Martyn up here in his electric wheelchair. Should be OK.

From High Knott Rd followed RoW to Trig which is situated in a wooded area the Trig is in good condition painted white and has an attached plaque re Arnside Ramblers, the Cap is open as are two of the sight holes the FB Faces ~ 240 the view is obstructed by the nearby trees but are excellent an the ascent and descent

Dirty coat of white paint. Chipping to top edges; no top cap or plug; front and RHS sight holes open. Plaque on rear face declaring it adopted by Arnside Ramblers c.1997 - sugest they get up there and give it some TLC! Wooded top, no views.

Second visit. For photographs and GPS measurement. SITE VISIT: Parked in free NT car park at SD449773. Random route up via limestone scree and woods to top. Well presented limestone, grassland and wooded hill managed by the National Trust. Pillar in good condition but with squintly set flush bracket. Spider centre open. FB faces southwest, ~229°. Vented through SW and SE sight holes. Surrounded by woodland with any views restricted to small gaps in the trees.

I made a diversion off the M6 on the way home from Scotland and picked this trig at random to visit. I parked in the National Trust parking area at SD 4498 7738 and walked S along the track through two gates before turning left up the hillside and picking up the path towards the high point. Despite the persistent light rain it was a pleasant walk through an area which is much less forested than the 1:50k map would indicate! The pillar is painted in an odd off-white colour and is missing its cap. The FB, facing SW, is definitely not mounted straight! SW & SE sightholes open, others plugged. Sadly there were no real views today because of the drizzle but this is a very interesting corner of Cumbria as a drive through Arnside and along the B5282 eastwards showed me.

Lovely cold and bright sunny winters day. The view from the trig isnt great as the trees/bushes get in the way a bit. Moving around the hill plateau gets you far better views. Popular local site with lots of access routes, not all shown on the OS map. Came up the following day with my partner in crime and the view north was much better (although the weather was less bright). On a good day its probably a 9.

Deep snow and very misty so none of the fabled views but fantastic rime / hoar frost sculptures on the trees. The sun broke through as we walked round the estuary back to Arnside, extremely scenic cliff edge path and views over Morecambe Bay.

Westmorland. This is a great little hill with a super position giving views to the mountains of the Lake District and south over Morecambe Bay. There was a great sunset over the sea and good views to Blackpool Tower where the Strictly dancers were warming up for their performances in the ballroom. White painted pillar with plug missing.

Highly visible and easily accessible. Have been here many times previously on a variety of walks but this is the first return since I started playing the bagging game. Inumerable footpaths up to this wonderful vantage point. Pillar is in excellent condition and looks to be kept well maintained. Just a shame that the plug is missing. I don't suppose it is within the rules to take one from somewhere else and put it here to make it a perfect pillar. Views today were stunning - Lake District and sea on a lovely sunny clear blue sky day.

Views somewhat restricted in the heigt of summer. The wood has some excellent trees in it. A farmer was busy herding up his cows whcih had evidently escaped into the woods and decided to practice their climbing skills by ascending hte knott.

In 1950 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station SD47/T1 in the Barrow-in-Furness secondary block. Flush bracket S5406 was levelled for height in 1952. Came up here from Lancaster to watch the sunrise on the solstice. Maybe not the best viewing point for that, but did ensure we could get up in reasonable light.
