Revisit. As we were at Coldingham Bay for the day enjoying the unusually warm weather thought that I'd attempt this one again after being unable to access the pillar back in 2015. Took the same route as monkeydestructor which was dry all of the way. Pleasant views, last Scottish Borders pillar.

Had read about the grumpy home owner, so decided to park just down from the track up to the house (to the south east on the road) and follow the tree line up. (Looked like a track on the 1/25K map). Turned right at the second opening in the trees and carried on at right angle. An easy route over the barbed wire fence, kept to the left of the wee loch, up onto to the solid track and on towards the trig. Kept out of sight of the house most of the way. Quickly took photos, but noone bothered us. Back the same way. Total distance 1.5 miles in 45 mins.

Walked across the fields to this one to avoid the awkward home owner. One fence to climb but must have made it there and back unseen. A wet and murky day which may have helped hide my approach.

Pillar next to a water storage tank, close to aircraft beacon. Walked up access path to beacon and skirted around house on track. A lady observed our progress from an upstairs window of the house, we waved. We went up to the pillar on our return a man approached us from the house and asked if he could help. We explained we had just visited the pillar and were walking back to the public road, he asked us for our intentions for the rest of the day, I was suitably vague about this. He then explained that we had crossed his curtalaige and had distrubed him by walking across his garden. We had never left the graveled track. Glad we had the encounter on the return leg rather than the approach, he was pleasant enough but clearly does not want access across the land. Not sure how the large beacon is maintained, that must be more intrusive.

The road up is now houseblocked, a big garden has absorbed the forest and navigation beacon road. This can be circumvented by using the grass field to the southeast. No hostiles encountered. Pillar in good shape, and intact. A goml can close the road, it goes through the garden, but cannot stop other routes or visits to the pillar. That nonsense starts a few miles to the south.
