Decided to approach from the SE along the bridleway and then followed the edge of the field when the bridleway turned into the wood - this was easy because the farmer had left a wide edge to the wheat field! Spotted the pillar just inside the wood so hopped over the fence to get it. Original plug with slightly-indented letters. Traces of paint. E sighthole open, others closed. No views in any direction due to foliage.

We parked on Wood Lane to the north and walked south along the footpath until it comes out of the wood on the top of the ridge. We then walked back along the side of the wood in the arable field until we came to the trig, which as Father Ted says is about 4 metres in and quite overgrown. We didn't get as far as the grave which is a bit disappointing (we'd not read FTs log before the walk). Nice woodland, plug with indented lettering.

Not far off the Arden Way but a little tricky to find. I approached from the north via the Arden Way. About 130 meters after the footpath entering this lovely SSSI woodland area there is a clearing to the left which will take you up to the ridge and then you will probably need to turn south for about 15 meters. The trig is hiding in a wooded area some four meters in from the fence into the field. If you find the grave to the Phillips brothers then you are about 20 meters too far north.
