'No trouble here'...actually, tonight there was...I've read reports of Triggers being 'attacked' by cows, and horses, and on some island TPs by gulls and other seabirds...tonight we were viciously attacked - by ants! In stripping back a thick carpet of moss to uncover the rivet I unwittingly disturbed an ants nest, and they were mad as hell with me for doing so! Got bitten to buggery!!

Excellent log from Jon Glew meant this was a quick find. Standard 1/4" rivet on concrete surround of an inspection chamber on far side from the road. 4.6m from road edge in long grass etc but reasonably clear.

Was being used when I pulled up into the layby! A guy was doing some levelling with a pole mounted GPS unit. Low score due to the manically busy A1!

Finally found it. At the back of the BT manhole cover. 20p coin marks it on the photos. The ants were not too amused about the grass being cleared away!! Had to snatch the 20p coin back very quickly. Easy way to find the BT cover is to stand exactly opposite the big road sign. The Detchant/Middleton arrow on the sign actually points to where the rivet is.
The rivet and 20p coin.
Follow the arrow.......
