The cross is still highly visible. I've driven past here so many times and never realised it was an intersection.

Visited whilst travelling from Old Sarum to Salisbury Cathedral. Nothing to add to previous logs other than to note the milestone next to the pavement in front of the church that has a cut benchmark on it.

The Church of St Francis stands at the corner of Castle Road and Beatrice Road in the northern suburbs of Salisbury. The trig consisted of a roof bolt, a cross and the centre of the tower. It was approached along Castle Road from Old Sarum with views to the west over the Avon Valley to the houses along the Devizes Road and down to the city centre and the Cathedral spire. I did not attempt to enter the building but a concrete cross is still visible on top of the tower. From outside nothing could be seen apart from the nearby suburban houses. The brick clad church was built in 1938 and is a Grade II listed structure.
