Continued due South from Burbage Edge to intersect with the Buxton Old Coach Road. Hopped over the barbed wire fence then followed this track downhill before doubling back across former mine workings and eventually emerging onto the A54. After a short walk East along the main road to the BOAT at SK032713 I then headed directly up to the pillar on a bearing of 160. Springiness underfoot made it surprisingly hard going. Pillar (which sits atop a mound surrounded by stones) finally reappeared as I broached the summit. Cap has been replaced by a plastic insert and there is slight cracking to the top but otherwise everything is in good order with just the one sighthole open. Views good but not quite as good as from Burbage Edge. Chrome Hill easily recognisable but views in this direction are generally blighted by active quarry workings. Descended to Dane Head and then followed the tarmac back to Derbyshire Bridge.

In good condition and recently painted white, which made it rather difficult to see from the footpath against a pale grey sky. However, a quick peek through my binoculars confirmed its location so we set a bearing and then followed it over very boggy peat to the trig. Lovely views. Plug replaced with plastic insert.
