Same route as Dugswell but the ground was frozen hard which made for much better going.Great views in all directions.Varied the return by descending steeply to the north to a bridge over the river then on the back road past Garsdale Foot.

A wet, wet, wet revisit with Kevin P. Parked at the car park near Tom Croft Hill then obvious route to the ridge keeping the woodland to your left. Then keep to the north of the wall after the 1st of 3 stile gates before a wooden stile gives you access to the trig to the south of the wall & fence.

Solo from the potholed viewpoint/parking off the A684 (SD 69418 91236). Walked to cattle grid, then followed grassy track by wall to summit. Initially with wall to L, then R after crossing a wall stile at SD 70958 89232. Two more wall stiles to summit, then a step stile at top to access trig pt. Easy navigating, easy underfoot, a good one.

I walked up from Dent Station after arriving on the 08.26 Skipton to Carlisle train, I made my way up from the Bridleway at Cowgill. Following a wall up over Thorn Wold to Snaizwold Fell at (SD 75591 87640) which leads to a stile at wall junction (SD 75351 88442). Then over Rise Hill on excellent path all the way to the summit. The ramble up was very easy going after the steep pull up to Snaizwold Fell, the weather was grey & overcast with good views from the summit.

Hiked up Aye Gill Pike from the layby by the beck at the eastern end of Garsdale. Great views of the railway onthe way up and back. Beer in the Moorcock Inn afterwards.

Bad news,nobody fancied a dual car bagging trip out but I needed to escape onto the fells to get over City's capitulation to Chelsea. Good news, I'd been saving this unexciting fell for a solo outing. Bad news, I arrived close to Barth Bridge near Dent but my map hadn't left the kitchen table. Good news, I remembered most of the route past Hacra Farm and then made a steep beeline across the fell. Bad news, from the flat summit all that was visible were some hazy neighbouring fell tops. Good news, On the way back down I had time to savour the delights of Dentdale.

September Camp 2020: Dent. I have camped at Dent many times before, since the 90s, thinking this hill is barred to the walker. This time, got it! Ascent from the Dales High Way at SD695898 following the wall along the ridge. A boggy trudge slowly reveals the prize. Along the summit a barbed wire fence can have you thinking you need to risk your jewels, but there is a stile next to the pillar (so don't panic). Cloud down, but the views would be amazing. Pillar good. Continued along the full ridge to Peggy's Hill and Cowgill back to Dent.

5 mile there-and-back walk from near viewpoint car park NW, followed trails and easy dry ground along walls to summit, great views in perfect weather, not a cloud in the sky but breezy.

Pleasant walk from Stonehouse following the Dalesway past Dent to Barth Bridge then following the Dales High Way to SD 695 898 bearing right to follow a wall for nearly 3km to the trigpoint. Fantastic panoramic views including the Three peaks, Howgills, Lakeland fells and even Blackpool tower. I continued following the wall past Rise Hill and Snaizwold fell to join a bridleway which drops into Cowgill.

From Dent along Dales Highway and Ridge wall to Trig which is situated close to a wall/fence and a handily positioned stile, The trig is in good condition(if rather pitted) with fading white paint and a plastic cap , one sight hole is open and the FB faces 202m, a pile of stones against the west face forms a good seat, Great 360 views with the Howgills , Lakes , Three Peaks and Baugh Fell , Retuned south to Shoolbred Farm and road back to Dent

Sure the views are good...in cloud so thick for 3 hours that even a crane fly evokes excitement. This is a good old fashioned moorland stomp. Boots may never be dry again - loads of fungi, Dentdale beautiful as ever - complete with bats (real ones) and pumpkin lanterns

A real slog of a walk from Dent on a really warm day - but the views from the pillar made the effort worth while! A lovely white-painted pillar with a brown plug replacement. Situated on a grassy area adjacent to a broken stone wall. Great spot!

From Dent via Barth Bridge and the wonderful green lane past Hacra. Near the Dry Tarn turned to follow the wall all the way to the summit. Very dry underfoot, with lots of dried out sphagnum moss!

Walked up from cattlegrid just to east of car park, up past forest. Tough long slog on a very waterlogged path. Glad to get to the other side of Sedbergh where the paths were much drier. Decent views.

Followed bounday wall to summit crossing intervening walls over styles provided. Pillar in good condition, painted white. Spider centre plugged with smooth brown plaster. Flush bracket faces SSW, ~199°, SSW. Vented through NE sight hole. 360° panorama from top.

Done as part of circular from Ibbeth Peril and along the Dales Way. Didn't see another walker all day outside of the villages, beautifully peaceful, splendid views, would be very wet and boggy in winter, but nice and springy today. Pillar is in fine condition with fairly recent coat of paint - which also covers the FB (wish they wouldn't do that)and the filled spider. Easy access from all sides thanks to the stile.

Back down the wall (NW), then north down a wall going straight down, round NW a bit, down an old quarry, out on to the main road at the bridge over the river

We walked from the Howgills view carpark on the Sedbergh to Hawes road,the walk was steep long and in places boggy,in fact quite tough going,but once the ridge was reached it was a very pleasant walk,and a great viewpoint from the trig,a nice spot for a cup of Tea and to spend a while playing at identifying the surrounding fells,we then went on to visit the nearby geocache.

Took a more direct approach from near Dent drove up to Mr Hartleys farm got permission to leave car and cross his (very steep) pastures and on up to the Trig roughly following the route of the annual fell race from Dent to Trig to Dent, I did not break any records ! cloud on top no views

Long, tough slog up an extremely wet route from the car park near Garsdale Foot after just visiting Knoutberry Haw on Baugh Fell. Great views on the way up & down. Continued over Rise Hill to the bridleway at Black Hill and thence to Garsdale Railway station (passing, then returning via the Moorcock pub I hasten to add). Great day, great weather, great views but once off Knoutberry Haw very, very wet. Other than crossing/using the road I never saw another soul until visiting the Moorcock - absolute bliss. Stiles/wall breaks give easy access. In a staggering degree of ineptitude, and on the most wonderful of days weather wise - yes it really was that good, I forgot the camera - my shame is iredeemable. No cars, on foot.

Excellent views all round, but a long slog from the east over Snaizwold Fell and Rise Hill. Best approach is from the car park at SD694912. This was the way I descended. There are stone stiles at wall boundaries.

Family holiday based near the village of Dent. First thing we did on arrival was climb over the fence of 'our' back garden and raced up Aye Gill Pike (Joe winning of course). I have photos of this pillar from that day,if only I could find them.......
