Couldn't decided on the best approach to this. The forest on the map is long gone and the ground looked very boggy. There was a geocache showing on the map at ND 11161 49604 so decided that it must be possible to get close easily as it wasn't archived. Sure enough the track to the cache is drivable and even has a good parking spot close by. We then more or less took a beeline, avoiding as many obstacles (holes, slippy branches, ditches etc) until we reached the deer fence, which if you are fence phobic like me (I know get a new hobby!) has to be climbed to hug the trig. Overall a good route and if you are careful you can avoid getting wet feet.

Approached from east. Parked in entrance to forest track at ND118491. Followed the obvious beeline route along the southern side of the deer fence to summit. Several big ponds to negotiate. Boggy moorland top. Pillar in fair condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces southwards, compass measurement 190. Vented through west sight hole. Forest to north has been completely clear-felled. 360 open outlook.

Parked by Strathmore Lodge then a stiff hike through heather and grass towards trees. Trig Pillar near fence. Trees obscure views north but fine views towards Ben Alisky, Morven, etc.

Pillar surface has maze of cracks; top screed damaged with spider exposed. From E, intermittent track beside forest fence, semi-frozen bog. Decent half-view S to Morven.
