Parking a few meters to the W in the NT car park, from there along the footpath then across the road to the S side one easy fence to get through, Pillar good condition. Badbury Hill Fort worth a look too.

I took the sensible route and walked along the road while my less sensible friend wanted to pretend she was at a festival and take ages to walk through the muddy field. The sign is a load of bull as there was no bull in the field.

A day of visits spanning several centuries of history including Great Coxwell Barn (v impressive 14th C carpentry), Badbury Hill and Buscot Park, plus two trigs. This the first - relatively straight forward access under barbed wire if you avoid your ear coming into contact with a nettle. Good views S if you exclude Swindon! N and S s/holes open, plastic cap, vgc.

Parked at the NT site and short walk to Pillar. Farmer working across road who gave me permissioin to enter field to take info. seeing as right on fence line just took reading and details from there. Great views to south. Interesting chat with farmer about this pillar and nearby ones.

Parked at the National Trust car park for Badbury Clump to the NW of the trig, then walked along the road to the public footpath to the E of the trig. Climbed over a metal gate at this point to enter the field, then walked back (W) to the trig. Plenty of cows in the field today! Trig in good condition with plastic centre cap, FB faces S (away from the road). I left a 2p coin in the front sighthole (immediately below the FB) for the next visitor to find. Nothing much to see at Badbury Hill.

Enjoyed the quiet brooding atmosphere of Badbury Hill Iron Age Fort; one of the smaller ones, but has been somewhat diminished over the centuries by intruding/encroaching husbandry. Across the road to find trig:s2242 in good condition. Shame All Saints Church in Faringdon was locked.

Visited en-route to visit our son in Bedford. Second time here, tried to wing it the first time with no GPS or map and looked in completely the wrong place! And the moral of the story? Be prepared. Pillar is located to the south of the minor road (not the north!). Can be seen from the road, but need to hop over the fence to see it properly. Good parking at the National Trust owned Badbury Hill earthworks a few metres down the road.

Found today. Not very easy to access as there are bushes barbed wire and various gates to negotiate on farmer's land. Add in a very fast road and an active 2 year old, this was not an easy find for us!

finished my plans for the day early so got this 1 of the map as it looked easy, spent a good 10 minutes looking on the wrong side of the road,sure the map is wrong on this 1,anyway I got there in the end, over the gate from the footpath.

Quite tricky to get to this trig. Great views to the Ridgeway but immediate location is not the best. Well worth visiting the Tythe Barn at Great Coxwell en-route to this trig!

Easy, if somewhat muddy access through the field gates from the public footpath a few yards east of the T/Pís location. Apart from the missing plug, the T/P is in good condition. The view south is reasonable but it was a bit hazy today.

my copy of the 1951 issue of one inch to one mile no.157 shows the trig point in the middle of the wood in the hill fort. was this OS misinformation or has the TP been moved ?

Unfortunately we were unable to get a good view of the trig as it is in a private field with no access currently. Not having the details to hand when we went looking for it and just using a map we were obviously looking on the wrong side initially, however a quick call to Alibags put us back on the right track :)

Pillar is in good condition but the plate is missing from the top. Took me a while to find it as I was looking on the wrong side of the road! Lovely views across the valley to the Lambourn Downs.
