Revisit, from the boat trip. Very windy, so boatman just poked the boat round the east end of the island so I could get a pic. Waves coming over the front - the other passengers were not amused!

First log of an actual visit to this trig on T:UK. Difficult to access anywhere on this island due to rampant vegetation, particularly briar, and nothing to graze it! 200m NE from the island's high point, but felt like 2 miles. Trig is the complete tower of the remains of a 12thC chapel. A twitchers paradise - lots of nesting Canada Geese, some nesting Eider, lots of Cormorants, lots of other unidentified sea and song birds.

Could see the top of the tower clearly from the cliffs near to the highest point of the island. Best approach to the tower would be from the eastern end of the island. Youtube video of our trip is now online https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaC1HG39F2M .

Got within 130 metres of the tower on this ungrazed island with plenty of brambles. Got a better view when our RIB motored around the island.

Got within 120m of it while exploring this very brambly island. More easily seen from boat.

Top of tower seen from Puffin Island southern clifftop Be warned - this island is very scrubby. Fun to visit though. Out of Beaumaris

Cant be seen from the Penmon Point car park, but take the coast path to the west and you can get round far enough to see the top of it. Also noted its visible from the Great Orme with binoculars a few days later.

I drove to Black Point on Anglesey, paying the small toll at the Priory. I could not see the tower top on Puffin Island (also called Priestholm), even from high on the approach lane, but I see from Photos on Google Earth Panoramio that you CAN see it from the moorland to the left (NW). Very annoying to have missed that angle. The tower is part of the old monastic settlement, going back to 1600s. It was a cell of Penmon Priory. So what did they do all day, sat on the island, looking across to the mainland? Pray? Or were there Puffins about to amuse them, even in 1660? Maybe they Preyed on them, for meat. (Chance of landing on the island? Close to zero. I would say. You'd need to be part of some Time Team dig or something)
