Seen it many times before including whilst at my daughter's graduation but not logged it until today. Visiting nearby Lapworth Geological Museum. Know the time by the chime!

What a splendid clock tower! This is easily seen from a way away but is with a closer look. Excellent.

Another one that I can see from my bedroom window! Visit here from time to time to either visit friends in hospital nearby or to do a bit of research in the University Library - soon to be replaced with a modern eyesore - and the tower is a wonderful structure.

Looks as though it was constructed from giant lego bricks. The nearby sculpture by Barbara Hepworth is worth a visit.

To give this its proper name it is the Joseph Chamberlain Memorial Clock Tower, and the tallest free-standing clock tower in the world. It's one of my waymarks on waymarking.com which has lots more information about the tower. I used to see it every day when I came here as a mature student in the mid 1990s. Students used to be able to visit the top of the tower quite easily via the lift inside it. However, after a number of students committed suicide by jumping off it access has been severely limited to pre-appointed visits. Access is also limited due to the presence of asbestos, as reported by university estates management.
