A rather magnificent IS. Makes a change from church spires. Enjoyed my walk around the park and the spectacle of someone trying to rescue a toy glider that had got stuck in a tree. Lots of applause when the gent managed to free it.

Grade II listed, 1897-8. Built to commemorate the fourth centenary of John Cabot's voyage of discovery to the New World. Open most days of the year; free entry; superb views over the city and a cut benchmark - what's not to like?

A sunny day for the climb up the hill and the tower, so good views in all directions.

Climbed the tower, not so easy with a hangover from seeing PiL at the 02 the night before & blisters on my feet! Plus my fear of heights. Amazing views of Bristol on a warm, clear day. Tower stands 105 ft tall & dated 1897.

Revisit with friends. Went up tower where plaque states '334ft above Ordnance Survey Datum'. Fantastic views.
