Pleasant little church in the village. The doors were open which was a nice surprise these days so we had a wander round inside.

Following an eight mile hike out of Youlgrave with no trig points along its route except for the church, I spent the afternoon trigbagging, clocking up another seven miles in short hikes and an equal number of trigs including 6 of the Peak District 88 pillars. Driving between pillar locations I stopped in Monyash to visit the church. It retains a CBM and a Cockerell atop of the spire.

St Leonard’s Church, Monyash, which dates back to around 1100. All good with the spire, and there is a cut benchmark on the tower wall.

2/2 visited today, people have learnt very little from the lockdown, and everyone is back behind the wheel of their cars. I cycled to this lovely village where opposite the church is an excellent cafe and pub (when open). I had a feeling there would be a CBM here and was correct. Gifted to Maya's 4th chick who finally hatched and is doing well. (Rutland Ospreys).

St Leonard's, dating to 1200. Octagonal spire, all in local limestone. Feature on top of spire might be a vane, but I chopped it on my picture
