St Mary's Catholic Church, Leek. Beautiful church. Built in 1887 in the Victorian gothic style. All good with the spire. There are 2 cut benchmarks around the corner at 7 Albion Street (on the King Street side of the building), one on top of another. The lower one appears to have replaced the more eroded one at the top at a later date. 9 of 11 today in and around Leek and Ashbourne.

2/3 A pedal down the road and over the border to pick up control 1 in Staffordshire of BCQ. I thought it rude of me not to visit a couple of trigs in the town centre. A very "lofty" church (St Edward the Confessor the other trig in town is "dumpy"). A wonderful town and countryside to explore. I gift todays trigs to road kill (or lack of it), with very few vehicles on the roads young male badgers, toads and frogs may have a fighting chance this year.

Wet and miserable. Leek was all dug up, with a one way system that defied all logic. I'll find out about the church later - spire obviously intact
