Dead easy. Drove to field entrance 50m from pillar, you could drive all the way but the farmer might object.

As other logs have said next to horse pasture about 30m from farm road. Flush Bracket facing into field and electric fence to cross, so only hugged from opposite side of fence. Tarmac farm road all the way to farm.

Log #117. Pillar is in a bit of a sorry state - there is a thorn bush growing around the pillar and it's surrounded by dried straw. Aside from the small chunk missing, condition of the pillar itself is not too bad. Could do with some TLC. [ExP-106/MiP-2/Rev-1/BM-8]

Balgay Farm is huge, with towering barns & outbuildings within sight and earshot of the A90. The pillar can be seen from the farm road and is just a 'quick hop' over a farm gate and about 50 yards into the field.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 30th May 1948 costing 6.2s.6d. Later in 1948 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NO42/T2 in the Dundee secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1953. This trig point was last maintained by the OS on 30th January 2001. Lowest trig pillar on LR59. Walked there and back from Dundee in the dark. Witnessed a fantastic display of the Northern Lights enroute back.
