Was not looking forward to this one, the last of the day, having read previous commentaries, but having parked in layby to the NW, access was straightforward through 4 gates, all easy to open, and with the advice to approach from the South taken in, I found it quickly. I think it is now happily married to the holly tree.

Entered field at SX 62384 96363. This one is a bit of a pig to get to and involves going through hedges and over various barbed wire fences and gates. Trig is best pals with a holly bush and they live inside a hedgerow and a barbed wire fence. I didn't have any skills left for today to negioiate small spaces and barbed wire fences, so went for the under and in approach and ended up joining the two pals in the hedge and nearly had to spend the night here as I got a little trapped. Not sure what poor Coineanach Hutch thought but a comment was made 'I would worry about you doing this on your own'. If only Ms Hutch knew - I could have made a fortune with you've been framed videos of some of my trig trips. Well this one is in the bag now. #50 of the trip and #13 of the day! With Coineanach Hutch.

From a field gate to NW where parking available for a car. Pillar is well and truly buried in a wide hedgerow to the extent that access is minimal. The FB can be seen and photographed, but the dense and mature holly bush has all but claimed it. Unable to determine the centre cap or sight holes.

For an innocuous looking pillar it did get the blood pumping quite a bit. I climbed over the gate at Church Hill Cross and followed the field boundary to the next gate. I left my rucksack here and then followed this hedge up to the top. This turned out to be the wrong side for the trig. I climbed the gate here and managed to find the pillar, just a dozen or so metres on. As I was logging the flush bracket I heard the sound of a quad bike crossing the field Id only just vacated. I made a dash for it, back down the field on this side. Thoughtlessly Id left my rucksack out of reach on the other side of the gate. I must have leapt over, grabbed it, and been back again in just ten seconds. There was another gate leading to the road in the field just a few hundred metres on. I did my best to blend into the hedge as I headed towards it. I turned back to see the shepherds dog watching me from a gate halfway up the field, but luckily it remained quiet. All that remained was to get back onto the road. I approached the gate to find a car in the space there with its engine running. Were they trying to surround me? I climbed over anyway, working out my explanations. It was quite a surprise then to see that it was in fact a taxi?!?! and it drove off before I had chance to see who was in it. This was my final trig of 25 from a multi-day continuous walk in the region and it certainly was the most eventful logging experience of them all.
