What's the collective term for lighthouses? Perhaps a 'Stevenson' of lighthouses. That'll do. Five in total this afternoon.

Pretty sure I spotted all the lighthouses whilst passing on our whirlwind tour of the South of England bagging YOSM, whether they are all in the very poor collage as taken from a far is another matter!

I can appreciate Griefmiester's confusion re. the existence of this lighthouse, especially if one is at sea level where this one can easily be overlooked. The best place to spy out all 4, before taking a closer look, is from the Western Heights car park (take a left at the 1st roundabout on A20 approaching Dover). Parking for the lighthouse is free but limited in Snargate Street, P & D elsewhere. The walk to the end of the pier is about 2 km. from main road. The lighthouse is adjoined by public conveniences and a very cosy-looking cafe.

From Western heights Prince of Wales in the centre with Breakwater West, left and Admiralty, right. Calais is just visible in distance at top of picture.

Not sure whether this one actually acts as a lighthouse now - there is some modern equipment attached to the pier end.
Arrival P&O latest addition to fleet - "Spirit of France" entering harbour.

Got confused with these lighthouses as there are so many - i think this one is not here anymore - other 3 clearly visible. camera not good enough for decent pictures at this range in these conditions. Updated 2nd June 2013 - thanks to RowleyBirkin's comments - I said i was confused :)
