Easy walk along a track from Springfield grabbing a couple of geocaches on the way. Sad wee trig by the rail track but in reasonable condition. Could probably have driven all the way to it.

The track to the trig was badly flooded, so had to hop over the fence into the field and make an extremely muddy diversion. Unfortunately the carrot crop has been ruined, lots of them rotting in the mire. Poor farmer. Concrete cap (I think) & all four sight-holes closed. A three carriage train heading for Cupar passed me on my splashing return.

Ok this was noted as vgc in 2007 by peregrinus, but Im afraid to report that the scottish weather has not been kind to it since then. As the photo shows, serious crumbling has taken place on the top surface and edges.

Trig 5 of 5 for the day. Clockwise walking route starting and finishing at Cupar station. First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 15th June 1948 costing 3.9s.0d. Later in 1948 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NO42/T3 in the Dundee secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1967. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in June 1986. Railway side job. I see this one from the train every time a travel to and from the north.
