Latest in a long line of Maypoles to have stood on Pagan Hill for past 300 or so years. This 60ft glass fibre pole was erected 3 October 2004 as a replacement for the previous wooden one that had rotted. 7 previous poles going back to 1804 have been documented.

The red, white and blue striped Paganhill Maypole stands in a traffic island at the junction of Park End, Farmhill Lane and the A4171 Stafford Road in the northwest of Stroud. It is surrounded by stone built terraced cottages and the busy surrounding roads. A maypole has stood in Paganhill for more than 300 years. I am unsure how to log its condition. The maypole I observed was in fine condition but there have been several poles at or near this site since the one computed by the OS in 1949.
