Pillar on a plinth, with a couple of rough steps upto it. Damage round the top, spider bracket partly exposed. Gives extensive views into Teesdale and Weardale, with the radar station on Great Dunn Fell easily visible. Ascent from the Durham/ Cumbria border, handrailing the fence line in semi winter conditions

3rd Pillar of the day on way home from Sandsend. Walked up from small parking area at bottom of Port Mulgrave following public footpath then field edge. Some weathering cracks leading from spider to edge otherwise decent condition. Bonus of a glorious sunset.

Easy walk in along a decent but tad boggy track from the cattle grid. Pillar in decent nick, nice views of open moorland. Mast at Boulby easily visible, heading there on way home for another tick. Higher score as this is my preferred type pillar location

Easy roadside bag apart from the barbed wire!! Hiding just over the wall at the wall junction. String of barbed wire on the other side of the wall so didnt climb over. Last of 3 on the way home from Beamish, viewed with the aid of a head torch as dusk. Seems in reasonable condition, flush bracket faces the roadside which makes life easier!

An easy bag, quick scoot up the hill from the roadside. Decent views all round, less urbanisation so gets a slightly higher mark. Pillar in decent nick, whitewash fading a bit. Sits on a plinth just by some old quarry workings, will eventually topple probably due to stock eroding ground.

Easy walk in from roadside near farm. Met one inhabitant of farm en route, was happy enough for me to visit Pillar. Pillar in good nick, decent views over towards Barningham and Newsham Moor in one direction then across towards Bowes and Barnard Castle in the other.

Approach along rough bridle way from just pastt Long Green Farm then along track. Expansive views across towards Teesdale and over towards the Howgills. Heather burning taking place further downslope so visibility hindered a bit. Pillar in surprisingly good nick, retains original centre cap and intact spider.
