Easily located FBM next to gate as per other logs, unusual type, same as TP0530 - Newtown?

Had a right job finding this with the summer weeds, it's nearer to the gatepost a very unusual circular base and bolt strange.

FBM, plus 1 of 3 trigs so far. Enjoyed the walk from Eaton, the FBM found quite easily of the R side of the road just past the gates to the quarry workings, though it's going to be smothered by ivy. I spent five minutes ripping the stuff away, and got some strange looks from a couple of passersby. Strange FBM too, circular in shape. On to Wycomb trig, with the temperature warming up on this sunny day.

Parking for 2-3 cars roadside 70m SW of the trig. FBM sits in roadside verge with hedgerow encroaching. An oddity unlike the usual smal pillar. Standard centre bolt; no height tag.

(1761) Handy parking nearby, which was good as the narrow lane wasn't really suitable. Location overgrown, but the FBM was soon found all told. An usual one this.

Hard to find FBM in an overgrown hedgerow. It's near a large concrete lump. The FBM seems to by a concrete cylinder encased in some further broken concrete. No height tag or much else visible except the bolt. The ground level is encroaching on it.

Found on the 3rd attempt: 1st when it was under 2ft of snow, 2nd to incorrect GR, then ... got it despite its attempts to hide amongst nettles! Noted there is a circular channel around the central part of the FBM where it joins its containing concrete surround.

Easy to park nearby for a short visit on the narrow lane. This was the 18th trigpoint of a collection of 20 made by wrose on 10th Jan. I had CURRYSCRIM with me. We visited Barkestons and Eastwell as the 16th and 17th but I didn’t log them as I’d been there before.

This FBM is getting worse, a lot of damage showing especially on the N and W side, presumably from trimming or mowing, which has also taken away the OS notice. The bolt top has been scraped and no height plate remains, although the lettering HEIGHT ABOVE DATUM remains as it's part of the bolt casting. The ground level is steadily swallowing this mark.
TP0527 The FBM is just managing to peep above the grass.
TP0527 Quite a lot of damage is apparent.

spent 40 minutes here 2 days ago with no luck, only took about 15 seconds today after looking at the photo's from previous logs, I took the o/s sketch last time and I am sure it is wrong, spent all my time on my last visit the wrong side of the concrete block digging and poking about, mind having said that it is big enough and I can't believe I did not spot it.

Beside a lane about 1 mile NE of Waltham village. It took an age to find as I came without the OS map/sketch. Eventually found it nearly buried in vegetation. An unusual FBM in a block of concrete. OS plate but otherwise not a lot to tell you what it is! Near-distant agricultural views.

A very curious object, unlike any other FBM I have seen. It looks as if a large concrete block may perhaps have been constructed around the original granite pillar. The central bolt certainly appears to be a normal (though well worn) FBM height bolt, but without a height plate. The damaged plastic ring which had presumably formed part of a cover was lying loose beside the FBM but fitted snugly back on. Has a GPS plaque, but no sign of the "Ordnance Survey B M" plate which is usual on FBMs.

Not too obvious to see in the hedgerow - I was looking in the wrong place but my 7 year old son found it!
The FBM is on the left, my tape measure is on top of it.
The FBM and accompanying plants!!
A very muddy top plate.

Plastic ring now totally seperated from base. Overgrown. Surprising what you find at a point. A cache of personal possessions in a handbag, soaked and animal damaged, from a nearby house (!!!) The NW corner of 'wood' described in an earlier logging is no longer applicable. The high dense hedge is still there as are the concrete blocks shown in one photograph, but the location is better described now as the NW corner of a landfill site.

E verge, N side of field access, 5m N of NW cnr of wood For some reason the scale rule and Landranger didn't work with this one - a resident put me onto it, mentioned he'd seen the OS using it a few years ago, GPS related.

Located just outside the village of Waltham on the Wolds - the day we passed through was open gardens day and the village was full of people wandering the streets. The FMB is located outside the village and on the first pass we nearly missed it. The plastic ring around top of FBM damaged hence condition remark.
