Thought I was going to struggle to find this one as after five minutes searching i hadn't turned it up, but then I recalled a comment about dumped conifer branches. i brushed a few of these aside and there it was.

A different type this one, a little further still up the road out of Skipton. Under the hatch it's full of water but currently easy to find relative to the first two small trees along the bank from the railway bridge.

At last ive managed to bag this one my first bernsten, found this mainly because of wanderers log he made a realy good job of clearing the site.The top has securing lug missing so i had a look inside the lid came straight of as pin hinge is in bad condition,replaced lid very carefully honest!

Happily it is still there and I would describe condition as good despite the missing screw. It is about 75cm towards the tree from the piece of wood mentioned by painterman61

I am afraid to say that the bernstein may have been removed,i checked all logs as regards location,even measured from little tree all thats there is a small OS bolt on piece of wood

A few minutes walk from the FBM. Easy to find, even in summer vegetation - there is a small path developing in the grass from the pavement. Screw still missing.

My first Berntsen, five minutes down the road (on foot of course) from the FBM. About 6 feet directly in front of the last (small) tree, looking directly towards the railway bridge. No bolt on the top so it can be lifted off. No cars, on foot! Revisited 20/05/2007.

Been past on two occasions but couldn't find it. Assume it must be over the wall near rly bridge - any clues, caterpillars? - thanks for the hints! I was looking in the wrong place; will revisit. A Berntsen!!!In full view!!Got within 3 metres and had almost given up when the other half of The Hungry Caterpillars says 'aye up -whats this then??'It is on the old road in line with arrow on wallburied in the grass verge-hope this helps.
