Beware Fairy Pools CP (NG424258) is £8. I parked for free at NG419251 (sp ht 49). Track then old atv from NG 39546 23070 helped across bad ground. Truagh Mheall (surprising hard to get off), An Cruachan, Beinn Staic, Beinn A Bhraghad. Began descent from NG407249 - S then SE - to logging track (full of brash) at NG410 246, leading to good track at NG409244

From the fairy pools carpark following forestry track West out the carpark traversing the hillside to high point of track. Left off the track heading west across moor for the summit. Fantastic place with the Cuillin looking like the Rockies in the snow. A favourite Skye trig perhaps

An attractive hill in a fine setting (think of the neighbours). Up the east ridge from a bike left at Bealach Brittle.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 17th June 1958 costing £22.4s.6d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NG24/32 within the Skye block during 1958. Levelled for height also in 1958. Last maintained by the OS in April 1978. SITE VISIT: Mapped good free car park just off the C1237 at NG423528, but very busy during peak season, early start advised. Followed mapped forest track southwest to high point in Bealach Brittle, continued across uplanted boggy ground to gate then climbed northeastern flank of hill to summit. Vanessa in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces ENE ~61°. Vented through three sight holes, NW face plugged, bolt visible. Full 360° panoramic view includes Roineval, Storr, Beinn A Bhraghad, Glamaig, Bruach Na Frithe with much of the Cuillin Ridge, Dunan Thalasgair (Eigg), An Sgurr (Eigg), Askival, Orval (Rhum), Carn A`Ghaill (Canna), Sron Ruail (Canna), Skridan. Returned to Bealach Brittle and continued over Beinn Staic to Beinn A Bhraghad.

Cylindrical trig, top screed damaged, metal cap, wide raised letters. Fine rock & grass summit, impressive NE ridge, despite wind & rain. Visited the 2 Marilyns plus intervening Yeaman, with Ali Wilson, Alan Dawson and Brent Lynam during a week at Portree.
