Parked at sign for path to Girvan ESE of pillar. Passed through a couple of deer fence gates en route. Original cap still present. Fine view.

Accessed en route from Barr-Girvan path. Great views at summit of Alisa Craig, Penwhapple, Haggis Hill and Craiginreoch. Built without Flush Bracket.

Waymarked path over pasture from Barr. Outcrop of boulder conglomerate on S side of summit. View dominated by wind farm to the NW, coast just discernable in the distant haze.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 9th July 1954 costing £35.2s.6d. Computed as secondary station NX29/1 within the Girvan block during 1955. Levelled for height value to pillar top in 1959. Last maintained by the OS in June 1985. SITE VISIT: Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large Pillar in good condition. narrow letters. Built without flush bracket. One sight hole open facing 117° ESE. Cracking views to Ailsa Craig and, Kintyre and Goat Fell.

Built without FB, vgc, metal cap, wide raised letters. Network of fine cracking just discernable. Pasture, nice summit, outcrops, mist, no view. From SSE, path is good although easy to miss at first - where it keeps to S edge of pasture.
