All Saints' Church, Otley (aka Otley Parish Church). Beautiful Grade I listed church, of Norman origins. Did not investigate the 'brass centre mark'. All good with the spire. There is a CBM & 1GL/PA bolt on the west face of the tower

Unusually, the door to the church tower was open. With permission, I was able to ascend the narrow winding steps up to the 1st floor. The Bell Ringers there explained that they were not allowed onto the roof because of safety issues. Specifically they said that the parapet was very low with gaps. Apparently, repairs are scheduled. The tower will be accessible for the Heritage Open Days later this year but, again, excluding the roof. From time to time, the flag on the tower changes so presumably the churchwarden or suchlike has a degree of access. But not for triggers. From the top of Otley Chevin to the South, using x30 zoom, a distant view of the church roof was just possible. This confirmed the condition of the parapet. Comparing the OSGB36 coordinates of the Spire with the Centre Mark, the latter is 2 metres further N and half a metre to the W. This suggests a position for the mark on the N parapet, to the right of the flagstaff and behind the spire.

My GPS indicated that I was within a few metres of the trig and this is what I found; a very well-defined bench mark with (I presume) a centre mark. It is similar to the one at Calbourne Church on the Isle of Wight which is not listed as a trig point. Very attractive church. Otley is well worth a visit at any time.
