An almost overwhelmingly ornate affair, joyous and the purple clock face beams out too, as seen in the dark from Walney Island. Been a long time coming this visit to another end of places place, completely underestimated time required to do the glorious Furness Abbey before getting this far.

Sat in the sunshine waiting for the X6 bus. A magnificant Town Hall and a reflection of the past history of this town, which unfortunately is going to rack and ruin. Some grand buildings. Stagecoach lady drivers gifted the two today......respect to see them.behind the wheel of a double decker.

Grade II* listed, 1882-7. OS lists Bolt, Centre and FS as components for this trig. The former on the tower roof and so inaccessible. Centre and FS readily on display, although there is a potential discrepancy with the FS as the OS list it as installed 1950, destroyed Dec 1953, but then another FS is shown as installed Jun 1953, with coords so close they must be but inches apart - it would suggest that from Jun to Dec in 1953 there were 2 flagstaffs occupying almost the same space, which doesn't make sense. Anyway, there is a FS atop the central tower. Cut benchmark a bit lower down too.
