Approached from south along the A361, road climbs then as it levels out a lay-by signposted as a parking spot comes into view. Conveniently located. Through bushes on roadside into field with plantation of young trees. Headed through towards slightly higher ground and open field beyond. Pillar visible about two hundred metres west of the road. Fairly good all round views. Spider and cap in place. OS plaque in place. Base exposed probably by erosion. A concrete bunker is nearby, wondered if it was a lookout post but couldn’t see an entrance, more likely a reservoir of some sort.

Trig in middle of field next to road; easy access from layby. Lots of saplings will one day obscure the pillar from the road, but there's still a path between the fields, and the saplings don't extend to the pillar. Pillar bears an 'offence to damage' plaque, and has had the beginnings of a white-painted makeover thanks to local birds.

Suddenly, as I strolled across to the trig, the Cotswolds skies darkened, the cold wind freshened, the sun disappeared, and a misty rain began to fall. December and Winter in all its capriciousness had reappeared. It was quite a wonderful transformation to experience really. Pillar fine on its plinth, cap in place and one s/h open. Then despite my appreciation of the changing wintry scene, I beat a hasty retreat!
