Visited when returning from a week’s holiday on the Island. Formally, the church is the Parish Church of All Saints Ryde. The church’s website describes it as “a magnificent landmark church, sometimes referred to as the ‘cathedral’ of the Island, overlooking the Solent, built to a decorated gothic design by Sir [George] Gilbert Scott in the 1870s”. And it is a magnificent landmark church. The spire can be seen for miles around.

Have been past this hundreds of times as a child. It is also very easily seen when you come over on the ferry from Portsmouth as it stands out on the skyline. Date is approximate.
