Parked at foot of the hill near the cemetery and walked up a small lane. Noticed there was a track to the left and followed this. This came to a paddock with a gent, his daughter and grey mare inside. I asked if this was the ROW to which they said no it was private land and the field in which the trig was in was also, and he was the owner. He said as he'd had problems recently and as he kept horses on the field one that was in foal so he wouldn't allow access. I said that it was fine and if I could come back again. He said fine just ask at the house at the foot of the hill. I thanked him and asked his name and told him where I was from. He said the only person he had known from there was a David Jenkins and that his family had thought of him as family. You could have knocked me down with a feather, it was my dad! We talked and exchanged stories. My dad had always mentioned a friend from down here I had never met him before but here we were exchanging stories about the past. A great find and the best day trigging for the chance meeting! To cut a long story short he granted me access as he knew I'd be good with the horses as we had kept some too in the past, even bought one from his father! Surface block good condition fab views but if you are thinking of going here give it a few months and ask as access for this one is with permission only!

Up through disused quarry to pasture. Surface block uncovered, spotted it quickly. A shallow domed bolt, the largest used by the OS, which I measured at 2 3/4" diameter.

26th January 2013. SN80 T017 Block. Location is corner of Welsh Water Reservoir. Good views. Had a good look inside and ouside of compound but with no luck. The area just outside has a few rock outcrops but was very wet from the melting snow and churned up by horses. Revisited today after perigrinus put me right.
