Very easy to find. On the verge next to a lone house south of the settlement of Beckfoot. There is a car park on the opposite side of the road. Great views across the Solway in one direction and to the North Lakes in the other direction.

Pillar in good condition. Engraved cap appears to be held in with silicone sealant, including filling hex sockets, presumably to prevent theft.

Don't get much easier than this! Field behind pillar is site of Bibra Roman Fort but nothing visible at ground level. Hazy Criffel across the firth.

Roadside verge parking opposite the house, otherwise good car park 150m N. Pillar sits at roadside on a field boundary, field access needed to check all round it. Original centre cap retianed, deeply indented lettering; all sight holes open. Extensive views all round. EABM marker in grass verge, approx 1m in front of the pillar.

Concrete pillar next to coast road between Maryport and Silloth. Pillar actually in a field but right next to fence with the flush bracket facing the road. Visited on a truly miserable soaking wet day, this will be a great viewpoint on a good day. Great remote coastal scenery. There is a parking place about 2 minutes walk from the trig on the side of the road facing the sea.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 7th November 1949 costing £8.15s.10d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NY11/1 within the Workington block during 1952. Levelled for height in 1971. Last maintained by the OS in March 1977. SITE VISIT: Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces into fence, northwest, ~300°. All four sight holes open but bolt blocked with internal debris.
