En route from station to crem on a beautiful sunny spring morning. Very impressive - tallest Doric column in England, and Lord Hill is sculptured from Coade stone - a pioneering artificial stone which is supposedly indestructible, although clearly not in this case!

Detoured to this returning from Haughmond Hill. Base of column fenced-off. Next to the Shire Hall - very different style.

SJ44 T061 BOLT and FLAGSTAFF. Flagstaff reported destroyed 11/72 refixed 1980. The column is currently fenced off due to structural problems. General Roland Lord Hills arm is reported to be falling off. The statue commerates the role played at the battle of Waterloo by Lord Hill. Local information suggests the arm was repaired a few years back but is now in a dangerous state, before this it was possible to visit the viewing platform and possibly see the bolt?
