Nettles just starting to grow, barely a problem; GPS quite settled but nothing found, probing to a depth of 6". GPS suggested foot of bank. Bank may have been raised for flood protection purposes. Approach from car park to W, NB is not along Nene Way but on N side of channel.

Still very overgrown with nettles. Had a prod with a tent peg - no joy. Also listed as a BM, and so is shown on 1:2,500 Old-Map, just N of river bank.

SP74 T063 BLOCK. An active gravel extraction facility from 1920 to late 1970's now Stortonpit nature reserve. GPS position is on a slight embankment between path and River Nene. Tall thick nettles, so this is probably worth a revisit in the autumn/winter. Good view of the "Express Lift" tower, the 127m tall, and only, lift testing tower in the UK. Now a listed building and in private ownership, but still a testing facility in the middle of a housing estate.
