Christmas Day in the Lakes to climb a couple of our remaining Wainwrights. Dusting of snow and ice on the tops. Whiteside first, then Mellbreak (direct up the north side). No fun up the loose icy rocks. No chance of finding the elusive bolt in the weather conditions, so headed over to the S summit, then down via Mosedale.

Quite a rocky summit so should imagine the block wouldn’t be to easy to find. Didn’t bring any digging tools plus it was too cold to hang about anyway and it started raining

Nipped up here to bag the top - missed off my 2014 visit to the main Mellbreak summit. GR given is about 35m NE of the summit cairn; didn't really make a concerted effort at looking for it - too rocky.

NY11 T036 BURIED BLOCK. Rocky summit, suprised that this is a buried block rather than a bolt. A cursory poke about with the screwdriver demonstrated this would not be an easy find....decided to move on.
