Attempt 2 after last week's effort was abandoned due to excessively terrible weather. Very different today with blue skies (mostly) and some severe winds. Mostly destroyed stone-built pillar. The FB is still present with the pillar standing only about 1.5 feet high. No obvious sightholes, FB faces W-ish. Superb views all round from here...if you get the weather! Walked up from the Ben Venue car park at the lochside (costs 3 quid for parking for the day) and came up the signposted track. Metalled paths until you hit the valley at which point it's pretty boggy all the way up. Light scrambling near the top keeps it interesting...

Stone built trig pillar appears to have been rebuilt on site. The flush bracket has been reinstated and the pointing in most of the pillar is good. However the very top and the entire spider are missing. Had continued maintenance (which is greatly appreciated) not been undertaken, this pillar would probably have disintegrated to a ruin years ago. All four sighting holes are plugged. FB faces WNW. Secondary station in Block NN61, Callander. Built 12th May 1952, costing £56.9s.7d. Photographed in fog 29/07/2006, GRP.
