Returned at the end of the week to take in my last Fife Marilyn and a 5th trig point, having climbed 4 others on Monday. Parked at NT169970 and followed steps up to a track. I saw a couple of folk coming straight down the hill and thinking to myself "never assume that they are on the right route...", I started up a (very) faint path toward them. Sure enough they were 2 forestry people who had been checking out the new path further up. We exchanged pleasantries, discovered that we had some things in common and I continued upwards until I rejoined the track and just had to do a short dog-leg to gain the gate onto the hill. Easy walk to the summit and the trig point. Views today somewhat marred by the haze.

That puts my humble score of 2338 (as at 16/04/2016) trig pillars visits into insignificance. There were about thirty baggers on Benarty Hill today. First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed in October 1943 costing £8.7s.6d. Later in 1943 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NT18/9 in the Dunfermline Block. It was refixed as same in 1983. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1966. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in March 1983. Fantastic views over Fife, the Lothians, the Lomond Hills, Kinross-shire etc. Well worth the climb up, down and around grassy clumps and marsh on top.

Skived off from some orienteering mapping to bag Benarty Hill. (proto-marilyn bagging) Remember very good views of Loch Leven, and while mapping, struggling with the heather.
