Rotted remains of concrete ring (I think) c0.3m deep found 1m W of centre of cairn. No sign of bolt. Initially dug under W edge of cairn, reaching a level feature 0.5m down which I think is bedrock. I scattered the peat and backfillled with rocks, replacing the turf over the BB location. I found only witness rivet no 1. Location of 2 and 3 was obvious but couldn't find the actual rivets. As far as I can tell, the dimensions are consistent with location 1m W of centre of cairn, although sketch says cairn was built OVER the block.

Excavations Front is remains of a concrete ring. Back goes down to bedrock c0.5m down

Could think of other things to do on my 65th birthday... but nothing better! Parked at westernmost turbine (NB 3499 3601). 9km round of 5 hills over rough, wet moorland. Here for the hill, no probing/digging tools with me, possibly it's under the small summit cairn but I didn't dismantle it. No cake :-) ***Revisited 28 May 2022 after visiting Roiseal Mor. Found the same witness rivet as peregrines, searched for other 3 but none found... heather encroached on them. Declined to re-excavate the hole on S side of cairn.
