13/3/22, GPS indicated 7m W of S gatepost. "Improved" pasture, too stony to probe meaningfully. Would need accurate GPS before digging. Mine was nicely settled but professional gear needed. Revisited 20/11/22 with Jon, with OS sketch, fences all new and measure from S no longer works, 144m from N looked ok, we made the projection to the house gable, all measurements seemed to tie in, we dug down 60cm in difficult stony ground but no luck. GPS indicated 3m further W, same location as last time. Fence moved perhaps.

Parked at end of Beech Ave (NY 0188 8723). Short walk across sheep pasture. GPS indicated it would be a few metres SW of a field gate, on NW side of fence. However the fencing is all new so possibility the block has been disturbed. There is a pile of old concrete blocks in corner of the field 50m SW distant, checked them, no bolt seen, but they too large/heavy to turn. ***Revisited 20 Nov 2022 armed with OS sketch and high expectations. Made the 144.35m measurements (no longer clear where the make the 52.75m measurement from) and went from there. Identified ground zero in a field which was 90% stone & 10% soil! Spent 90mins on site; digging was extremely difficult. We dug a wide hole to a depth of ~0.6m. Nothing found (except copious amounts of severely impacted stones). Measurements were clearly out, maybe only marginally, but enough. Hole backfilled and turf replaced. NB the pile of old concrete lumps previously seen have been cleared.
