Remains of concrete at surface with scar where bolt presumably was. Matches OS sketch ie 8ft N of summit cairn in line with cairn and Saddleback. Not buried, presumably a typo with most others in vicinity being BBs. Circuit from W end of Mosedale including Knott and High Pike

Ex bolt location Concrete with scar where bolt should be
Ex bolt location In line with summit cairn and Saddleback summit as per OS sketch

Ascent from the east, up grassy track which then climbs very steeply up loose grass, soil and scree to the summit area. GPS points a few metres to the north of cairn. This area is mostly solid bedrock but there are a few pockets of thin soil and gravel. Dug through these to soon arrive at bed rock. No bolt seen. Very strong wind (blown off feet several times) and mist with high wind chill. On descent Bagging Assistant severely twisted ankle (we heard it crack and thought it was broken) resulting in slow progress. Last time she was here was on an undergraduate field trip as a student - more years ago than she will confess to. Ive passed by several times but this is first time actively looking from OS mark. Looking at photos of the cairn logged on this site it is clear that this has been rebuilt several times. there is also a substantial wind shelter near by possibly using and redistributing stones from the adjacent area. We’ll be back when the weather (and ankle) is better.

Carrock fell promising looking patch of bedrock dug out but no bolt or block seen

Fine hill. GR puts the block 1m W and 3m N of the hill summit. Rocky round here so suspect it's not too deep but nothing with me to probe or dig with.

Visited this top as part of a Nuttall bagging day with DO, MT and Mel. Nuttall walk 1.3 Back of Skiddaw consisting of seven tops including this one. 10.5 miles on an overcast, hazy and humid day. At the time was unaware of concrete rings, bolts and blocks types of trigs so would not have looked for it
