From W as per Painterman. Excavation with marker stones easily found. Bolt is at N end of excavation ie nearest the gorse bush. I replaced the marker stones directly over the bolt. Nice viewpoint on a sunny afternoon

I walked in from the parking at water treatment plant at NZ 4313 3281 and walked SE to the PROW the fields were very waterlogged. Took some digging out quite deep and sticky soil large 2 inch bolt following cjos footsteps again. Quite a good view here on this little steep hill now the sun is out.

An unusual bus service to Elwick then a short walk along minor roads, but the A19 wasn't the easiest to cross on foot. Wet footpath along field edge from High Barns farm to a gorse-covered hillock. Site readily found from CJO's description; slow to excavate with a trowel. Large bolt exposed. Bright and breezy morning - contrasting views of the North York Moors and Billingham Chemical works.

2.5 inch bolt in large block buried 18 inch deep. 1.5m to SSE of centre of gorse bush. Approx 7 m from decaying sand pit edge to east. Refilled hole such that it will leave a depression at ground surface and put a collapsable stool, found adjacent, under gorse bush (on summit) to point to location adjacent. Three rocks left on top.

As left. Summit gorse behind with stool underneath, three rocks in depression
