Took some digging out but not too bad with all the loose stones in the soil, used a plastic container to scoop out the deep bottom. Nice brass bolt at the base. Good location and views today even a Nuclear waste Transporter Train passed underneath. Bonus nearby benchmarks as well. Super find Chris and bagging assistant.

2.5” bolt found (eventually) 75cm down (good job as Bagging Assistant couldn’t reach any further to dig out hole). Had faith in the sketch sourced by Jonglew so carried on digging and eventually it paid off. Cover was mix of soft soil, clinker and bricks. CBM diagonally opposite on parapet.

CBM on opposing parapit
Handy to have a Bagging Assistant
Found - 75cm down in concreted pad - no obvious ring, plate or other “finder” metal work

As left with a cairn of stones by parapit 3’ from bolt location
2.1m from railway bridge sign, 0.9m from parapet - standing on location

Parked 100m before Sowerby Lodge, which seems to be several different dwellings. RoW to the bridge, which is grassed over and not used for anything other than a FP now - it's blocked off at the E side, other than a style for foot traffic. The GR puts the block at SE corner of the bridge, it's shown on 1956 large-scale mapping. If extant there's a good probability of this one being found. ***Re-visited 9 Dec 2019 with a prodder and spade as was in the area. All the ground is hard a few inches beneath the turf, gave the likely area a good poking but nothing concrete-blockish detected, didn't bother digging.

Bridge now grassed and I had no clue where to start prodding. Did find a BM on bridge which was a bonus.
