Parked at SD 88318 15794. Ring looked like it was going to be in a back garden so we rang a few door bells before finding someone who actually knew where it was. They then took us for a guided visited which was probably for the best as the block covering it is rather heavy and probably why the ring is now broken.

Quick walk up from my mates house! First (recorded) concrete ring (I've visited Blencathra before my trig bagging days). Unfortunately it doesn't seem as pristine as in previous photos. The flag covering it is quite heavy - looks like it's been dropped back into place, rather than lowered. Two considerable cracks discernable, one of which has resulted in a piece coming out. I recovered carefully but the method of covering could do with changing otherwise I fear this ring will suffer further.

Family were in garden and happily showed me the trig, thanks! A pristine example. Ring close to surface, hemispherical bolt a foot down

Approached from Whitworth road to N via roadside gate, following a steep zig-zag path up through the woodland, then out onto the open grassy top. Trig with covering stone easily found; concrete ring in good condition. Stone replaced after photos. Good viewpoint with rain holding off. Return to Rochdale town centre via a disused and disappearing railway line.

Revisit to bag the newly found ring, asked permission from the owners who kindly showed me their new find. The lettering on the ring is in excellent condition and so is the bolt. The landowner explained he first looked for the first trig on the 1800s map which was very near the summit Gandy Brow this was destroyed when Healey Church was built which is a Intersected Station. He then took measurements from this spot by pacing out, switched on his metal detector and found it straight away first time well done.Ring number 18 !!!!

I found this Trig point on my land after reading about it on this website. That is one of my canvas tents on Painerman61's photo. I often watch the sunset in this spot.

Had a quick look whilst bagging the P30 summit higher up. Good path opposite of church car park leads right to the area, could still be there one for the metal detectorists.
