Quick visit of another local concrete ring, lovely find. No cairn on top but 2 large covering rocks easy enough to locate on East side of Stormer Hill.

From SSW, Lydgate Bridge (bonus cut BM). Obvious hole filled with rocks and boulders, easily removed, we dug out the soil but replaced the rocks. With Simon B.

I passed this hill on the Rochdale Way a few weeks ago and returned today for the concrete ring. It is not on the hill top, but slightly lower on the eastern flank. The location is where there are two large stones. You have to dig out the soil and rubble to find the ring and bolt. Great find. There is parking for two cars on the main road opposite the Stormer Hill tea rooms. The fire fighters tackling the blaze on Slieve Donard are gifted todays quarry.

A great find with a fine bolt. No cairn now just a well fitting rock to remove then some smaller stones before hand digging the soil out.

Well it's a definite 8 for this exotica - only other one's I've visited are Cumbria/Co Durham. Took some finding with just remnants of the cairn remaining - angling ourselves to match the view of the earlier posts got it sorted.

Trig located well below the grassy summit. Took a while to excavate with only a trowel. Concrete Ring slightly tilted - couldn't see any lettering. 1.5" dia bolt on rough base. Not obvious why this spot was chosen in preference to the top of the hill; relatively limited views SW. Possibly the farmhouse to the E was used as a reference. Left a mini-cairn as a marker. Bright sunshine and a light breeze - ideal for trig bagging.
